Val d’en March Villa, Pollensa, Mallorca

Positioned in the Sierra de Tramuntana National Park and built on an old Carob bean plantation, this contemporary new build on a fifty acre site allowed for a very special design.

It plays with power and the diametrically opposing forces of man and nature in the world. Strong art influences of the client, combined with a mountainous landscape, allowed strong pyramidial like structures to hold their own, creating a landscape of tension and wonder within the site.

Largely drought resistant and native planting allowed for a sustainable landscape which required very little irrigation or maintenance. Pools throughout the site and large scale tree planting provided refuge from the harsh Mallorcan summers on a very exposed valley bottom site.
